CONCERT!

A few weeks ago Sarah told me about a great concert coming to town, it happened to be on the day tickets were for sale for "club members". With her membership I got 5th row 1-2 seat tickets as a surprise for Clayton!!!!!!!! He had never seen Jimmy in concert and was stoked when he found out; they are easily one of his favorite bands!


Our sets were about 20 feet from the stage and with 1 & 2 seats we were right next to where the bands entered/exited the stage. Unfortunately, I did not bring in my camera but Clayton got close up pictures of Paramore on his phone. The concert was AWESOME! Paramore's energy on stage made it so much fun. Jimmy played a lot of fast paced songs but were not as dynamic on stage--still great vocals as should be expected. I am a big fan of Paramore (even though I was recently introduced) . This was my second Jimmy Eat World concert and was better than the first that I saw a few years ago when their song "The Middle" first came out.

Anywho--IT WAS GREAT!

New Hobby

I have found a new hobby--digital scrapbooking. My friend Laura at work does it and sent me a few links. I am addicted; especially since I can get them all printed on photo paper for $2.99 for a 12X12 scrapbook page at Costco. I love it, I downloaded free papers, embellishments, etc. Did I mention I love it? Here are a few examples of the pages I made. I now need to get more space on my computer and away I go!

Bum Shoulder

I got a call the other day from my mom, "Did you know Isabel is limping? She can hardly walk". I ran home and sure enough, she was trying to run around only using 3 legs. It was so sad. She just wanted you to hold her, she would cuddle up next to you.

I took her to the vet and got an x-ray; the poor thing has bad shoulders. ALREADY! The vet said it may or may not heal itself and gave us some medicine. Usually small dogs get bad joints when they are older, but for her it might become a long battle. He mentioned the possibility of surgery! Can you believe that? I will admit, my heart sank thinking that if we really had to make the choice for a surgery.....After giving her her medicine and two days of being a little sick (which is no fun by the way) she is doing well; no gimping, no limping. Hopefully we are well on our way to recovery. Poor little pup--she is such a sweet licky lovy dog that you can't help but feel bad for her.

Interesting Article

Today I read a really interesting article at work, "Womb for Rent". It was about how common surrogate mothers have become. I didn't realize how big it has gotten and found myself reading faster and faster just take it all in.

The surrogates get paid $25-40k from someone who cannot have children. In theory I think this is a great idea (the article showed how popular it has become with military wives). They can still be at home with their family, supplement their income while their husband is away overseas, and help another family. However, it would be difficult to give up a baby that is not yours, but that you have had growing inside you for 9 months. I can't imagine how hard that would be--but codo's to those who can do it!!!!!

One family they showcased in the article was a lady who loves being pregnant (obviously the surrogate). She has one daughter of her own and would not want another--but she has been a surrogate a couple of times. Even as a child she loved walking around with a pillow under her belly acting like she was pregnant.

The couple she carried for could not have children due to the fact that the wife had to have a hysterectomy before age 20! They did not want to adopt but wanted a child of their own. Luckily for them, this woman let them use her healthy baby-carrying body to grant their only wish.

The surrogate stated that she loves being in the delivery room with the couple waiting to see their miracle & wish come to pass. She said it is like fulfilling your one last wish but being alive to see its effects.

I guess I had never really thought about it, much less knew how popular it has become. I am blown away. I had no idea. Wow.

Several states legalized it, including Utah, and states like New York do not even recognize surrogate contracts. Texas & California have the highest percentage of people who are surrogates (big military states). They also do not allow the carrier to be the donor of the egg because then the mother/carrier actually gets attached to the baby--leading to costly court battles. Did you know, people from all over the world look to the U.S. to find surrogates? Well, they do! Some countries like Germany do not allow it, so they go elsewhere. Weird hu!
